what to expect:

First step: Phone or Virtual Consultation

Are you ready to take the first step? This is just a phone call or video call so we can decide if my organizing service is the best solution for your needs (15-45 mins).  I want to know what the issues are in your space and what you want to accomplish. We can discuss the project, budget, scheduling, and whether or not you want additional organizing products. I can also answer your questions about my process. This is a judgement-free and confidential call.

If we decide we want to work together, I will send you my client agreement form that will detail the terms and expectations.  Once that is accepted, we can schedule your session date(s)!

Second step: On-Site Consultation

The next step is an in-home or on-site consultation if needed. We will walk through your space together discussing the issues so I can get a more accurate picture of your needs.  I want to hear about your goals and see how you operate in your space so I can show you its full potential. I will give you my best advice for your space and we will make a plan of action, but there is still no obligation to hire me.

 

 

Third step: Decluttering and Organizing

Now we can get down to business and start organizing! Your first three organizing sessions are priced per session at the initial rate ($249). After three sessions, the rate drops to the project rate ($229) for each subsequent session within three months of the date of the first session. If work goes beyond three months, we will sign a new agreement and the initial rate starts over. Maintenance or “refresher” sessions for previously completed projects stay at the project rate.

 

FAQs:

Payments:Payment for a session is due at the time of service on a pay-as-you-go basis with no long-term commitment. Accepted payments are cash, check, credit/debit card, and Venmo @Roeorganizing. 

 

Scheduling:

Organizing sessions are three hours and we will book sessions on a timeline that works for you until your project is complete. I book on a first-come, first-served basis. You can choose multiple sessions in one week (if available), or spread them out over time as your schedule or budget allows. 

 

What exactly do you do? 

During a session, I am busy!  We might be sorting, organizing, arranging, cleaning, labeling, and taking care of anything else that needs to be done for your project.  If you are working one-on-one with me, I am answering questions and talking about organization as we complete tasks together related to your project. You can expect the first few minutes of a session to include some time discussing our session goals.  The last 15 minutes will be wrap-up, including gathering up supplies, relocating any donations or trash, and planning our next session. 

 

Do I need to be present for a session? 

We can work together or I can work alone after a short consultation with you.  

 

How long will it take to declutter and organize my …… ?

It depends on many factors. This includes the size of the space, the type and density of things we are touching and sorting, the amount of detail you want in the finished space, and how quickly you can make decisions about your items.  The following is a list of average spaces and the number of sessions it may take to fully complete them.

      • average kitchen & pantry:  may take 2-4 sessions
      • fridge/freezer:  1 session or less
      • laundry room:  1-2 sessions
      • closets:  1-3 sessions
      • bedrooms:  1-3 sessions
      • playroom:  1-3 sessions
      • home office:  2-4 sessions
      • paper clutter and filing systems:  2-4 sessions
      • garage or basement:  2-4 sessions 

 

Do you provide organizing materials?

Organizing materials, like new bins and baskets, are not included in my fee.  We can discuss the use of additional materials during your consultation, but often we can repurpose items from around your homeI keep some of my favorite products on hand that you can buy from me at cost if you like. 

 

What do we do with my decluttered/unwanted items?

I recommend making a charitable donation if your items are in good, usable condition. After each session I can haul away and drop off any donations that I can carry and fit in my vehicle.  We could also schedule a donation pick-up with a local charity if there is more than I can carry.  If you like, I will collect a receipt and return it to you. I do not handle any selling of your items, but will be happy to help you take photos of the items for for listing.

 

I want a certain look in the finished space but don’t have the time.  Can you help me design my space or shop for me? 

Your spaces should be beautiful and functional for you. I offer shopping services for a flat fee that includes the time for research, purchasing, and driving, including returns if necessary. If specific organizing products or even custom closets or shelves are desired, we can discuss and plan that during your consultation. I can help you design your space and can order, pickup, deliver, and install most elfa products from The Container Store.
